I don't know if any of you actually took the time to read that report, but i imagine everyone associated the term "mate-guarding" with a prison guard. the mate is held against his/her wishes and is abused by the "guard". i like to think "mate-guarding" meant to protect against a sometimes harsh world. burglars, rapists, poverty, disease, etc. ...are the things you try to guard your mate and children against. There is also the guarding of the family's honor. that's what seperates us from the monkeys.
